Give a sensitive file
a private home.
Start with a harmless sample. Once you know how import, viewing, and recovery work, choose which real files belong in your vault.
STEP 1
Set up your vault
Open UltraLocked and complete authentication setup. Starter includes ten items without a subscription. You can create a note or take a photo directly in the vault.
STEP 2
Share a supported file
In Photos or Files, select a photo, PDF, or another supported file. Tap Share and choose UltraLocked. You can select several files. Read the result: a queued file still needs to be imported by the main app.
STEP 3
Open and check it
Open UltraLocked and unlock the vault. Find the new item and open it. If an import is waiting, keep the original and read the message. A full Starter vault can keep files queued until you make space or upgrade.
STEP 4
Understand the copies
Importing does not remove the original. Copies may still exist in Photos, Files, messages, recently deleted folders, other devices, or cloud backups. Verify the vault item and a separate recovery copy before deciding what to remove elsewhere.
STEP 5
Save and verify a recovery copy
Open Settings → Backup & Recovery. Export your selected vault items with a long, unique passphrase, save the bundle somewhere accessible without this phone, then choose Verify a Saved Backup. Keep its passphrase separately. A copy only on this phone cannot protect against losing the phone.
